  1. It was supposed to be a Christmas Present(2011), but I just happened to start reading first few pages , that was it! I could not put this very funny wonderful book down. I was still reading it at 2pm Christmas morning so I never did get to give it as a Christmas present (except to myself) . As I write this ( excuse me grammer , it’s been a long day!) it is now Sept.2014 , and you know what ? I’ve picked it up again and it’s still as funny and interesting to read for a second time around, thankyou all and love to Barnaby Boo xx

  2. Was lovely meeting you and Barnaby Boo today at Holkham Hall. I can’t wait to start reading tonight. Oh, and thankyou for signing my book.

  3. As a lover of Norfolk from the day my folks started holidaying there, finally moving to Burnham Market in the early 60s, I found your book both inspirational, heart-felt and really rather emotional. A lovely read, and to borrow a quote that you yourself are only too aware: “A truly superb experience.”

  4. loved the book ,, as we have a static caravan near sheringham and knew all the lovely places you mentioned in the book it was very special to us o read that you too loved the place , it is a stunning coastline and so many relaxing things to do , i was near to tears at the end and really felt for you after so many years of hard work, i hope you are still in the area and havent had any regrets about giving up london life , i will keep the book at our caravan as its so interesting to read , thank you , good luck with your next book , janine

  5. Oh Robert, you have taken me to my spiritual home! I live in Hertfordshire, but my yearly holidays are taken in Salthouse. ( I may book your Lookout cottage!!). Thankyou for the sample of your book, I cannot wait to buy my copy, to transport me to those beautiful marshes and wide never ending skies. Sitting in the front garden of the Dun Cow pub and looking out over those saltmarshes, or at Cookies, is the best place, unless I’m walking across those marshes with my dog Saffy. Blissful, blissful halcyon days. I also know Chingford well, my parents originate from there, but Norfolk is where I “belong”! With all good wishes to you, and lovely North Norfolk.

  6. 3/4 of the way through Samphire Coast and feel like I’m in beautiful Norfolk where we are lucky enough to own a holiday flat in Wells-next-the-Sea! Beautiful book, beautifully written, signed by yourself to us personally when my niece saw you in Cromer where she purchased the book for us for Christmas 2012! I’ve so far smiled, laughed out loud and shed a few tears – a perfect book. Looking forward to the next one… xxx

  7. Have just read your very funny and captivating account of your journey from the world of design /fashion to the world of the bed and breakfast industry an excellent read! Interestingly enough that we took up that self same challenge myself and my partner some years back moving to north norfolk to open a hairdressing studio in wells next the sea, which we ran up until 3 years ago this book reminded me somewhat of our journey too but you obviously had some very much more writeable experiences. The book is hilarious from beginning to end tied up with a dedication and an eye for every detail leading up to getting a prestigious award so deservedly gained!Loved the book and look forward to the next edition we still love our life in norfolk and i am still operating my work freelance since my heart surgery in 2009 keep up the good work best wishes Alan Player & Anthony Liley

  8. Hi Robert, I met you at Holkem Hall on 4th Sept at the beginning of my first 2 weeks holiday in North Norfolk. I had a very relaxing time with your book as company introducing me to the area & your story. A jolly romp and a refreshingly easy read on the beach oh Holkem bay. I even tracked down Holly Lodge and it is still fully booked!

    Well Done.
    All the best Graham

    Best wishes

  9. I met Robert at Holkem Hall on the 2nd of September and if his book is as good as he is charming it will be a real winner.

  10. Hi, I just wanted to let you know that I thoroughly enjoyed your outstanding story. What an inspiring and exciting ride you took me on as I relished every page. A remarkable achievement that will become a benchmark in years to come as a very original writing style that imbued me with the feeling that I had made a really good friend with you the author. You certainly wear your heart on your sleeve, which makes Samphire Coast so utterly compelling and unequivocally plausible. You are certainly a new writing talent to watch out for! Best, Giles.

  11. I bought a copy of your book off Amazon after seeing the tremendous amount of 5*Star reviews. Well, your book not only lived up to it’s reviews, but it truly exceeded them. I would have given you 6 Stars if there was such a thing… Brilliant!! Very inclusive, exuberant page-turner, and very well-written story that had me hooked from get-go to the very last page. God knows why a Film Producer has not picked up on this yet? Mark my words they will very soon. And what a movie it would make – all the more compelling, because your remarkable story is true! Bring on the sequel asapl! Mrs S. Hamilton.

  12. I bought a copy of Samphire Coast at your book signing in Waterstone’s, Bury St Edmunds: I loved your page turning story, all-the-more compelling, because I met you too. Your exuberant, very candid, and sometimes wry inclusive writing style took me away with you on your remarkable journey. I was only sorry to finish reading your thoroughly enjoyable book, as I did not want it to end and part company with you the author, whom I felt had become a friend. Samphire Coast is a breath of fresh air! Congratulations on a very brilliant work, and you mentioned a sequel… Can’t wait!!

  13. Samphire Coast is such an uplifting, and unique roller-coaster story, with any number of riveting cliff-hanging chapters – so I just couldn’t put this book down – culminating with a staggering twist (which I did not see coming!) in the closing chapters. I like the way you wear your heart on your sleeve throughout your very candid account of your true story: Poignantly heartfelt, and hilariously funny by turns!! And your beautiful descriptions of the North Norfolk coast are second to none… I think ‘Chelsea-on-Sea’ should now be dubbed ‘SAMPHIRE COAST’ after your story. Very well done and I look forward to your next book. Best wishes. James

  14. Hi Robert, I’ve just discovered your book and read it all in one go, I couldn’t put it down. I really enjoyed it and I will follow your career as a writer with great interest. I can’t wait for the next one. Wishing you all the best. I think you are wonderful x

  15. Samphire Coast was recommended by a friend – I had to read it twice because I enjoyed Robert’s adventure and journey of discovery. If you have ever hovered at a cross road in your life with a burning ambition /dream screaming to be fulfilled Samphire Coast will inspire you to take up the gauntlet and travel new roads. By far the best read this year. Robert Greenfield’s life experiences are beautifully crafted into words. His work is colourful and humorous with an underline message that with risk, tenasity and focus you can achieve anything your heart desires. No matter what life throws at you. Robert’s wonderful odyssey would make a brilliant television play and an excellent self help aid. I want to read more Robert Greenfield!!

  16. Your book was a christmas present from my cousin loved every word , the book sent me tumbling into your world of Norfolk, really well written when is your next book due out please? love to Boo xxxx

  17. I was given Samphire Coast as a Xmas present: I became totally engrossed in your amazing odyssey over the holidays. What an inspiring and heartfelt story… which makes it all the more compelling, because it’s true! The film/TV producers’ will be knocking on your door very soon, I’m sure – as “Samphire Coast” (The Movie) would be unique and what a stunning backdrop the North Norfolk coast would make as a setting. Congratulations, and Happy New Year for 2012!

  18. I too was given Samphire Coast as a stocking-filler at Christmas. Amazing story full of high-drama, with so many twists and turns. A true page turner! Your writing is so very visual like a film happening before your eyes as the scenes jump-out off your well-crafted pages. And in the most stunning settings of the backdrop of the North Norfolk coast and your ultra-stylish boutique hotel. There has to be a sequel… very well done!Best wishes, Leon.

  19. Brilliant first chapter – so impressed I have ordered a copy via Amazon. My only complaint was your book was not available on Kindle. Read your bio with tears and a smile.
    Congrats Robert.

  20. I read your book with great interest after spending many childhood holidays on the North Norfolk coast. Your descriptions are exquisite and imbued me with nostalgia for the coast. Your true story is an inspiration and a testimony to a unique and very challenging odyssey you and your partner endured. I won’t give away the ending but I did not see that coming! Congrats on a corker of book… it will no doubt be a “Best Seller”!

  21. Just to say thanks for coming to Wymondham Library on Saturday 5th Nov. You kindly signed a book for me to give to my son Paul and his wife Clare. However it will be some time before they get it as I have read the first two chapters and I love, love, love it! I will have to buy another copy for myself. Your descriptions of North Norfolk are so beautifully written. So glad you didn’t tell us the whole story I can’t wait to see what happens! Congratualtions you deserve great success.

  22. I recently bought this book in Holt (a signed copy no less) whilst on a short break in Wells. Have thoroughly enjoyed your storytelling – you obviously give heart and soul to whatever you do – looking forward to the next book. Congratulations and a big thank you.

  23. Oh man, This is so very cool! I’m hooked by your sample chapter, dude… love the classic VW camper-van – you are a man after my own heart… High five to you and your brill book!!

  24. Fantastic opener – promising page-turner, spent many a long summer up there: dreamy location! My dogs love Holkham beach nearly as much as me… good luck with Samphire Coast. Best wishes, Josh Brown. London.

  25. I used to spend my childhood holidays on the stunning North Norfolk coast – boating around the inlets, echoing adventures of ‘Swallows & Amazons’. So happy to see your book, about this unique habitat of great beauty, and looking forward to reading about all your adventures in this sublime setting. Best, Tilly.

  26. I was riveted from the outset – so well constructed, and really looking forward to buying your book for my Autumn break.
